Kentucky Derby Party at The Chatsworth Tea Room in St. Augustine, Florida

On May 4th, 2019 all eyes were on Churchill Downs, where a sea of seersucker and phenomenal ladies’ derby hats flooded the stands for the 145th annual Kentucky Derby.

The Kentucky Derby is the longest running sporting event in the United States, which first started in 1875. Today, hundreds of thousands gather to Louisville, Kentucky, where for over a century 20 of the most stunning and athletic horses in the world compete in the first of three races that form the Triple Crown.

We were so excited to host a Pre-Kentucky Derby Party for Sarah Oakley and The Junior Service League of St. Augustine!

Our Private Tea Room was set with white table linens for 40 guests attending our Kentucky Derby Brunch!

Guests were greeted with bottomless Mimosas to start the party off!

Guests enjoyed Brunch – a classic white linen t service with a Glazed Waffle entree, Egg & Cheese Soufflé, Smoked Applewood Bacon and fresh fruit!

It’s no secret that the mint julep is the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby. A mint julep is made with bourbon, simple syrup, mint and you an even add fresh fruits like berries, lemons and limes.

The Mint Juleps were flowing all day.

For a sweet finish, guests loved our Dessert Tasting Station. Our in-house Pastry Chef freshly prepared an array of petite desserts!

Mini Kentucky Derby Pie, Chocolate Cupcakes, and lemon almond tea cakes with a sugar glaze.

Whether you are into the Kentucky Derby or not, one of the most fun parts is seeing all the fashion, big hats and all things pastel in color. Both the women and the men dressed up to cheer for their favorite horse at the race all while wearing vibrant Kentucky Derby fashion.

We had a blast hosting this group who were so much fun and laid back.
